1 functional localStorage key

krolik.tools does not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or advertising cookies. The only local storage we use is a single functional preference for your color theme.

What we use

Key Type Purpose Expires
theme localStorage Remembers your light / dark / system preference Until cleared
cookieAck localStorage Records that you have dismissed the cookie notice Until site data cleared

This key is stored entirely on your device. Its value ("light", "dark", or "system") is never transmitted to our servers.

Cookies set by us

None. krolik.tools does not set any cookies from our own domain.

Third-party cookies

krolik.tools is proxied through Cloudflare. Cloudflare may set a short-lived security cookie (__cf_bm) for bot mitigation purposes. This cookie:

  • Is set and controlled by Cloudflare, not by us
  • Expires within 30 minutes
  • Contains a bot-score token — no personal profile is built from it
  • Is exempt from consent requirements under ePrivacy Directive Art. 5(3) as a strictly necessary security measure

We do not embed analytics, advertising, or social media scripts that would result in additional third-party cookies.

Legal basis

The theme localStorage key is a functional preference stored entirely on your device. It is not a cookie and not a form of tracking. No consent is required for functional device preferences under the ePrivacy Directive.

The Cloudflare __cf_bm cookie is strictly necessary for security and is exempt from consent requirements.

How to clear storage

Clear localStorage (theme preference)

In your browser developer tools:

  • Chrome / Edge: DevTools → Application → Local Storage → krolik.tools → delete theme key
  • Firefox: DevTools → Storage → Local Storage → krolik.tools → delete theme key
  • Safari: Develop → Show Web Inspector → Storage → Local Storage → delete row

Alternatively, use your browser's "Clear site data" or "Manage website data" settings for krolik.tools.

Block Cloudflare cookies

You can block the __cf_bm cookie via browser privacy settings or a content blocker. Note that blocking Cloudflare's bot-protection cookie may cause requests to fail Cloudflare's security checks.
